Love, kindness, and joy

Posted by akamrromance on July 16, 2010

Grandma, you lost your fight today
Leaving behind many memories
Memories of joy and happiness
Memories of frustration and sadness
We will miss you not just today
For we have lost not just your life
But knowledge that will remain
Forever locked in your mind
You left behind friends and family
These are the people who are part of your legacy
We will grieve for this loss
And be happy because you are better off
Once again your body and mind are whole
For the shackles have released your loving soul
Grandma, rest in peace and
I want to say
We will meet again someday

That’s a lovely poem to remember your gran. I’m sure we can all sympathise with your loss. Well written.

    • Thank you all for the comments on this one. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever written. I read that at my grandmother’s funeral and I was so nervous I nearly passed out.

walk2web sduons intriguing. I’ve played with similar “relationship / content mapping” applications on the corporate network at my employer, and have often discovered more than enough to compensate for the time I “waste” poking around. The challenge is always pulling out of the “deep dive” that link or tag hopping can lead to.I’m not sure what about my cats could be called “freaky”, though- now I’ll have to look through my recent postings and see where I tipped the weird meter

Very nice memories and tribute to your grandmother. I’m sure she is smiling somewhere as she reads it. I’m glad you both had each other in your lives… it sounds like it was a win/win situation. The joy of having someone like that in your life, however brief or lasting – is always worth more than the grief that comes when this life ends.

  13. Beautiful tribute.

As each elder dies, a door closes and treasure is lost. Thank you for reminding us of that.
