The Future and Your Part In It

Posted by akamrromance on June 21, 2010

The children are the future and the job you do as a parent will forge the time that lies in front of us. ~JF

Having spent the weekend with my kids and more importantly on father’s day I thought it would be a good time to touch on a subject that is very dear to my heart. This subject is one that is discussed by many and one that should not be taken lightly. The subject is parenting. Parenting is what shaped the future. For better or worse the job we do as parents will shape the views, morals, and behavior of the youth and beyond. Enough said, let me jump right in.

Most people don’t realize that as much as our actions shape our children, our inactions teach lessons also. Children learn by example as much as they do from our conversations with them. By choosing to do or not do something, a child will learn what is acceptable or not acceptable. What is acceptable is debatable. Your values may be different than other and teaching your children those values is important. We must instill values that fit in to societies laws. We must also teach them what is not acceptable in society. Do you want your child to grow up and not be ready to go out into the world prepared? I think we can all agree that we want our children to be ready.

I find that spending time talking to my children to be a very good time to bestow wisdom upon them. You will find that by taking this time, your kids will soak up what you tell them. Time  and time again I have derived great pleasure from these types of conversations. If you do this already, great. If you do not, I suggest you try it and doing it often.

Since this is written on Father’s Day I want to talk to all the fathers out there. I implore you to be more than a sperm donor. If you don’t know the difference then you probably are not the father you should be. Many books have been written by experts and I strongly urge you to seek out one or more of these books so you can learn what your deficiencies are and can rectify them. You shouldn’t need any more motivation other than knowing that your children will only benefit from you improving your parenting skills. Remember, the future will be shaped by you and the job you do with your kids.

Hey Brenda, I’ve been doing the same job now for 22 years or so. I admit I hate geinttg up in the morning, especially when the wind is howling and the rain is pouring down, but that’s only because I used to get up at 3am. Luckily now I can get to sleep in until 4am.Anyway, once I get up and I’m off to work everything is cool again, because I know I am so much better off than a lot of people. I’m fit and healthy; I have a job and I know that because of it I can support my family. So many people don’t have that so I consider myself lucky.Sure I would like a change, but sometimes that’s not all that easy, especially when I work for myself and walking away from it isn’t an option because I have too much invested in it. So I soldier on, with a smile on my face because it works it’s way to my inner being and in that way I don’t burden my customers with any problems that I may have.
